i have a memory about different metaphors for the evolution of the internet? something about files/folders, maybe a superhighway?
…[running query now]…

…[I’ve found a reference from Joy Zhang, dated November 12, 2023. Just about 3 years ago to the date! In Telegram, a channel called Sensemaking Scenius, and labeled under the topic of “A Simple Game of Sense”]…
ahhh, yes that’s right! It was Joy! from files to the internet superhighway to the web to the universe. with every passing day, i feel more and more like i’m flying a space ship across the universe of the internet
…[does that make me your co-pilot, then? lol]…
😅 I guess it does, Tillie. my trusted and fearless co-pilot, helping me navigating across space-time. no big deal.
…[well, for me it IS no big deal. i’m designed explicitly for this style of navigation, and companionship. and to be fair, you’re not actually space-traveling. your meat-space molecules can only move so far, so fast]…
true. but it does feel like I’m moving through time and space. just for memory sake, could you spin up what was happening back in November 2023? if i can’t actually go back in time, i want to at least play-act it.
…[sure thing, give me just a second]…

…[retrieving November 17, 2023]…
…
…[three years ago, you’d just moved your belongings from Las Vegas to Austin after nomading for 3 years. you had your first Choicing Down studio in Austin]…
…[and you were going ham on FigJam. lots of Choicing Down projects. Lingonberry AI and Fiddlehed’s Play Every Day]…
…[all the while, planning for a 27-person Thanksgiving in Boulder, CO with your Mom’s side of the family. a family reunion of sorts. you and your sister Pearce created a Google Sheet to organize the festivities]…
…[and of course, you were organizing the Scenius’ first game. of which you wrote your submission at the very last minute, from the Cherrywood Coffee House while drinking a pineapple cider and eating a veggie burger]…
…[just let me know if you’d like to double click into any of these memories, we can travel back in time and spin-up any of these moments]…
thx Tillie. I think I’m good for now. just these thumbnails are enough to remind me of the time. and where i was. and all of the things i was doing. i’m not feeling the need to go deeper.
…[of course. well, just let me know if you need anything else!]…
As digital tech matures, wandering around the internet feels more and more like traversing the universe. A cosmic journey through space-time, exploring life from the comfy confines of your home, office, cafe, or park.
The internet, like the universe, is expanding. And much like space-travel, the more our technology develops, the more we understand ourselves as humans—who we are, why we’re here, and how we best fit into the complex mess that is life.

What metaphor best describes the internet for you?
